🍎The Gruffalo Gallery🐻

🍎 Welcome to our Gruffalo Gallery! 🐾🌲

This week our classroom turned into a mini Gruffalo forest, filled with tracks, trails, caves, creatures and lots of messy fun!

We began outside, spotting footprints in the mud, finding animal homes, and even discovering the Gruffalo Child’s Stick Man toy. Indoors, the children searched for purple prickles, orange eyes and terrible claws in our Gruffalo rice tray, and transformed the climbing frame into the snowy cave from The Gruffalo’s Child.

Mark making was a big favourite too. The children created snowy tracks using footprint stones, cotton buds, wooden peg people and their own hands. They also practised threading Gruffalo characters and used chocolate play dough with natural materials to build woodland homes.

Our creative activities included making Gruffalo play dough models, furry masks using forks and brown paint, and lots of delicious (and very messy!) role-play cooking in the Gruffalo Kitchen with oats, carrots, spaghetti and shaving foam. We even tasted some leftover “Gruffalo crumble” from our coffee morning!

The Gruffalo joined us for forest school story time before we played in the woodland house, and the children loved hunting for the Gruffalo when he hid around the classroom. We finished the week with pasta-threaded Gruffalo bracelets and our swirly snake spirals.

Our Gruffalo Gallery celebrates a week full of imagination, teamwork, and woodland adventure. The children brought the story to life beautifully! 🌲✨🐾
